Linkedin R.A.P. (Ready. Aim. Profit.)

Ultimately, Linkedin is a business tool.  Plain and simple.

And, ordinarily, business tools are instruments to help you profit from the investment you make in them.

So, have you given much thought to how you're going to profit from Linkedin???

One way or the other, there are some very basic stages to remember in profiting from Linkedin.  So, let's RAP about it: :-)

1. Ready - A.) In the beginning you must get your profile ready to be shared/discovered.   Your profile must tell a convincing story about why someone should want to get to know you better, do business with you, hire you, etc. B.) Another vital part of getting ready to profit from Linkedin is preparing what you need to say to people and how you're going to say it to them.  The "how" matters.   As with any other business platform, how you communicate on Linkedin matters.   Get your thoughts together before sending out invitations, introductions, requests to connect, job inquiries, etc.  Have prepared messages that you can quickly and easily send out.  If you are uncomfortable in writing these messages, ask friends or even members of MLPF to help you write and/or critique your message(s).

2. Aim - In business, you can take a scattered approach to conducting your business missions - howling in the wind, so to speak - OR you can aim your efforts, focus your attention, point, concentrate, direct your efforts, specify your needs, figure out your desires, target your goal, etc.   On the Linkedin platform, you've got to aim at what you need or you're going to invest a lot of energy and get nothing in return.  You want a return on your investment.  Every time you go to Linkedin, seek a desired outcome, a desired result. So, AIM your efforts for specific benefits you desire!

3. Profit - Three of Linkedin's main tabs are: "Find People", "Find Jobs", "Find Services".   It's clear: You've got to search to profit.    Profit is NOT going to come to you.  (Please don't think I'm yelling at you - this is actually a note to myself which I'm sharing with you! :-))   Many of us have hobbies in which we've expended lots and lots and lots of hours - and we LOVED it - without ever receiving a financial reward from all the time, effort, and thought we put into our hobbies.  Now, Linkedin can be looked at as a hobby, too.  But I don't think that's what it was intended to be or how it is best used to get the financial power you seek.  I think it was intended for you to profit, even prosper from using it.  If you prepared your profile and the messages that you intend to share with Linkedin members, set your aim on who you need to reach, you can profit from your Linkedin membership.  By the way: When you profit from Linkedin, chances are that someone else will profit, too.  So, if you're a genuine networker, don't just think about extending the reach of your network, think about the ultimate purpose of Linkedin - think about reaching profit.
