DRINCCS Anyone?: Seven Keys To A Powerful Network or How To Share DRINCSS Online

DRINCCS Anyone?: Seven Keys To A Powerful Network
Or
How To Share DRINCSS Online ;-)

In their wonderfully helpful book, The Virtual Handshake*, authors Scott Allen and David Teten, list seven keys to building/having/maintaining a powerful network:

  1. Character
  2. Competence
  3. Relevance
  4. Information
  5. Strength
  6. Number
  7. Diversity
I think David and Scott are right in their assessment that these seven keys are foundational in building rock-solid networks whether social, business, or a hybrid of the two.

However, as a self-proclaimed amateur acronymist with over 100,000 acronyms, I just couldn't leave well enough alone with their list ordered as it was! :-)

So, I ordered it in a way to help me more easily memorized these "magnificent seven keys":

  1. Diversity of people in your network
  2. R elevance of the people you know
  3. Information you have about your network and the people in it
  4. Number of people in your network
  5. Character = "Your Character"
  6. Competence = "Your Competence"
  7. Strength of your relationships
Ordered this way, "DRINCSS" helps me think of the English word "drinks".

Whether you choose alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, one of the best things you can do with your network is share drinks with it.  And whether you prefer coffee, tea, wine, or mead, online or offline you should share DRINCSS with your friends.

DRINCSS, anyone? :-)
